I have had a passion to help those who suffer the most with hearing and balance problems. This is what has driven me to study a doctorate and then become active in academic teaching as well as clinical work.
When I had an opportunity recently to volunteer for EARS Inc to teach at the only university audiology programme in Malawi, I realised that this is the place that I can help those who suffer the most. Ear disease and hearing loss in children is estimated to be 100 times higher than in the west.
By helping to manage the only audiology clinic in Malawi and teaching future students, this will make an impact that will last.
